FAQs

Direct mail is a form of communicating via the postal system with consumers. This can be in the form of promotional information, transactional mail or other advertising material. It is usually sent to a specific group, whether by geographic, demographic or other form of profiling.

Doing a mailout in house can be much more costly than you might think. On top of the cost of paper, envelopes, sticky labels and print charges, you have the valuable time of you and your staff to take into account. In our busy worlds, there are always many other tasks pending that can be attended to, rather than stuffing envelopes or bundling flyers for distribution.

You may also find that because of our buying and printing power, completing a mailout through Digital Direct Direct Mail may cost less than doing it in house – and that is before you even take into account the time involved in completing it.

Traditionally, companies could only use a mail house if they were going to send at least 10,000 letters, or were sending mail every week. With Digital Direct Direct Mail, our low minimum order quantity means you can access an automated mailing service, usually only available to larger organisations.

In most instances Digital Direct Direct Mail will complete your direct mail campaign within 48-72hrs dependent upon the volume and delivery service selected.

There isn’t really a limitation to what you can get into an envelope for a direct mail campaign. Australia Post has guidelines around envelope thickness and weight, and our equipment has limitations about what it can accept. Beyond this, Digital Direct Direct Mail has the ability to hand finish jobs that require ‘odd’ items to be inserted.

Some of the biggest companies in Australia still rely on direct mail. It is part of a complete marketing strategy, including both online and offline components. With the average household having multiple phone numbers, even more email addresses and SPAM laws to contend with, personalised mail provides a point of difference and a direct route to be in front of your customers.

A well-defined direct mail campaign still yields much higher results in all areas than email campaigns.

Addressed mail is mail sent in an envelope or as a postcard to a specific person and address.

Semi-addressed mail has an address but no name. Instead of addressed to a person, the envelope is addressed ‘To the householder’ (e.g. ‘To the pet lover’) it is ideal for acquiring new customers in specific postcodes, suburbs or Census Collection Districts.
